The Osun State governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has vowed to sack the 30 permanent secretaries appointed on Thursday by the state governor, Gboyega Oyetola, by Monday, Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, has said.
Adelek said he would fire Oyetola’s newly appointed permanent secretary on Monday after taking office as governor of the state on Sunday.
Oyetola has approved the appointment of 30 senior civil servants as permanent secretaries on Thursday, November 24, while Adeleke’s governor’s inauguration is scheduled for Sunday, November 27.
In response to the appointment, Adeleq vowed in a statement from his spokesman Rashid that the appointed civil servants would be sacked by Monday.
The statement read, “Any coordinating director who accepts a permanent secretary appointment from outgoing Governor Gboyega Oyetola will exit the service from November 28th, Osun State Governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke has warned.
“The governor-elect affirmed that taking such appointments at this last minute indicated the readiness of those directors to exit the state service.
“We want to go on the record that appointees should be prepared to leave regardless of their length of service or not. Occupants will be considered political appointees and they will automatically follow the outgoing of governors resigned from public office.
“In the meantime, those who still want to continue serving the Osun state government should reject the gift of Greece from the outgoing governor.
“We affirm that there will be no immunity from the dismissal of any kangaroo permanent secretary.”
