The Mass Communication Alumni Association of the University of Lagos has announced plans to hold its annual dinner and awards night on 3 December 2022.
The venue for the event will be De Rembrandt Hotel on Obafemi Awolowo Way in Ikeja, Lagos, according to a statement from the alumni association on Wednesday.
Special recognition awards will also be presented to 10 veterans, according to the statement, in categories including Broadcast Journalist of the Year, Public Relations Professional of the Year, Advertising Professional of the Year, Print Journalist of the Year, Online Professional of the Year, Lecturer of the Year, UMCAAite of the Year and Most Participatory set.
This year, new award categories are said to be introduced to recognize outstanding members, individuals and groups who have made significant contributions to the development of the department and the growth of the association.
Eniola Mayowa, chair of the awards subcommittee, said the dinner and awards in 2021 will be big and boisterous, but this year will be bigger and better.
She said, “You’ve seen the sights and sounds of the 2021 Dinner and Awards, and the 2022 Dinner and Awards promises to be bigger and better. You’re going to have to nominate. It’s got more awards and recognition. It’s the end Beautiful way to the year.”
Thunde Awobiyi, chairman of the Dinner and Awards Committee, said that the 2022 dinner and awards will be larger and richer.
“This year’s dinner will be different and special because it will be a three-in-one event: a dinner, the swearing-in of new executives, and an award for outstanding UMCAAites,” he said.
