The National Youth Service Corps has announced the promotion of its Information and Communications Technology Director, Christy Uba, to Acting Director General.

She may be making history by becoming the first woman appointed to head the NYSC since its founding 50 years ago.

NYSC Director of News and Public Relations Eddy Megwa said in a statement Tuesday that the appointment follows President Muhammadu Buhari’s Maj. Gen. (ret.) This follows the dismissal of Brigadier General Muhammad Kaku Fadah as Director General.

The statement was titled “Mrs. Uba will oversee the New York Stock Exchange until a substantive director general is appointed.”

“Pending the appointment of a substantive director-general by Mr. President, the most senior director in the program has taken over the leadership of the Corps in his capacity as an overseer,” Megua said.
