A group of Nigerians in the UK, backed by the Kogites Disapora coalition, staged a peaceful protest at the Nigerian High Commission on Monday against what they say is a resurgence of insecurity in Kogites state.

The protesters, led by coalition convener and Manchester resident Ayo Akinuli-Kofar, said they had come to formally deliver a message to President Major General Muhammadu Buhari, who has retired, through Nigeria’s high commissioner to the kingdom.

According to him, the protest was also to ensure that the High Commissioner took their petition seriously and handed it over to Buhari.

They specifically asked Buhari to ensure that sponsors and perpetrators of terrorism and banditry resurface in the state after several years of probation, “are investigated and brought to justice”.
