Anathema, a documentary about the Church in White, will have its world premiere on Friday, November 11, 2022 at the Irving Arts Center, Texas, United States of America.

This documentary from the Cheser Media Inc. Stables sets out to explore the church, its founding and journey to date.

The project also documents the growth and challenges of the Church of Aladura by exploring the contributions of members and non-members who share personal experiences, opinions, and stigma.

Its first soundtrack titled: “Egbe Kerubu tiye” was released in June and features a gospel performance by Seraphim, Dare Fashola; Israeli Classics; ID Olohun Iyo and ID Tones. Since then, the soundtrack has received positive reviews from all parties.

Filmed in Nigeria and the United States, the documentary features prominent members of the Church of Angels and Seraphim and the Church of Christ Celestial.

It also has big names in the Nigerian entertainment industry.

Executive producer Rev. Samuel Ogunyooye said the project complements the diverse efforts of passionate believers to tell the story of the church, adding that Anathema is a unique category.

He said: “Anathema is a strong distaste for something. But sometimes people don’t seem to like something they know little or nothing. This shows the need to tell the story in a way that captures the light of the church, spanning All the population, especially the younger generation who are the future of the church.”

Ogunyooye added: “Given their portrayal of the White Church in the film, it also became imperative to bring in Nollywood celebrities, as their input is critical to what we tend to achieve.”

According to him, the point of the project is also to ensure that the story is told in its contemporary context in a less controversial but simplified way that appeals to the eager liking of those who wish to understand the origins of the church.

This documentary was produced by Francisca Eleyele.

Project coordinator Bod Olaibi said preparations for the premiere were well underway and the landmark event hosted by popular TV presenter/comedian Teju Babyface was wrapping up work.
