Five people were killed in a car accident in Isma Village along the Bauchi-Jos Road in Bauchi State.
Two other people suffered varying degrees of injuries in the crash at 7.50am on Saturday.
This was revealed to our reporter by Yusuf Abdullahi, Commander of the Federal Road Safety Squad in Bauchi State, on Saturday night.
He said the accident involved two vehicles – a tanker belonging to AIB Petroleum and a private car, a Peugeot 406.
He said seven people were involved in the crash – three adult men, three adult women and a girl.
According to him, the crash was caused by speeding and it took the FRSC rescue team 26 minutes to reach the crash site.
“Our rescue team arrived at the scene 26 minutes after being notified, and they took the victim to Abuba Karta Fawa Bareiwa University Teaching Hospital for treatment and confirmation.
“When they arrived at the hospital, a doctor confirmed that five people were dead – two male adults, two female adults and one girl – dead.
“An adult male and an adult female were injured to varying degrees and were being treated, and the bodies were stored in a morgue before being released to the family of the deceased for burial,” he said.
