On Wednesday, the People’s Democratic Party’s Presidential Campaign Committee condemned APC vice presidential candidate Kassim Shetima for attacking his flag bearer Atiku Abubakar, and reminded him (Shetima) that he (Shetima) during his tenure as governor of Borno state , the Boko Haram terror sect has inflicted on Nigerians a misery they have yet to recover.
Shettima and APC presidential candidate Bola Tinubu questioned Atiku’s ability to unite the country in Lagos on Tuesday, with Shettima specifically promising to end the former vice president’s political career in 2023.
In a statement signed by Dele Momodu, director of strategic communications for the National Campaign Management Committee of the PDP’s campaign committee, the party urged Shettima to study his party carefully before identifying any problems that might arise in the PDP.
Momodu also expressed concern about the APC and its presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, for allegedly publicly demonstrating the worthlessness of democracy and voting rights for certain ethnic groups in their territories.
“How can APC keep life and property safe under the watchful eye of Borno State Governor Alhaji Shettima, with Boko Haram a thorny threat to which Nigeria has yet to fully recover?
“We were completely skeptical and surprised to see APC vice presidential candidate Alhaji Kashim Shettima speaking in bold yesterday (Tuesday) at an event in Lagos. He gleefully claimed that when “he did not unite his party” , PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar fails to unite Nigeria.
“We believe that Alhaji Shettima, at the moment of deliberate amnesia, must have tried to point his finger at the speck in another person’s eye, while deliberately ignoring the giant tree in his own eye.
“The APC is in complete disarray and key members of his party have publicly apologised to Nigerians for the disaster it has imposed on Nigeria since 2015. This is one of the reasons why APC members have migrated to the PDP in droves.
“Everything about the APC and its candidates is kept secret and they cannot tell Nigerians the truth of anything. How can Nigerians be expected to believe these mysterious figures?
“Alhaji Shettima claims that Atiku Abubakar cannot trust the Nigerian economy. There is no worse heresy than this. Nigerians want to know what businesses the APC candidates have personally managed successfully other than living off government booty and generosity.”
