Lateef Ojo, a 21-year-old man, was remanded at the correctional centre on Friday by the Iyaganku District Court in Ibadan on charges of conspiracy and armed robbery.

Ojo, who did not provide an address, was charged with conspiracy and armed robbery.

Police prosecutor ASP Oluyemi Eyiaromi told the court that Ojo committed the crime on October 19 in the Odo-Ono Kekere area of Ibadan, Oyo state at around 1:30 pm.

Eyiaromi claims that Ojo and others now at large armed themselves with knives and machetes and robbed resident Olanleyin Aliyu.

He said the accused seized Aliyu’s mobile phone worth 70,000 naira, a watch worth 16,000 naira and 120,000 naira.

Prosecutors said the offences violated Sections 6(b), 1(2)(a)(b) of the Nigerian Robbery and Firearms Act 2004.

Magistrate Ms. S. I Babalola did not accept the defendant’s plea for lack of jurisdiction.

Babalola directed that the case file be returned to the Prosecutor General for legal advice.

The magistrate adjourned the case until November 29 for further mention.
